Day Long, High Adventure Nolichucky River Trip
The Nolichucky River is one hour away from Banner Elk. This river trip will meet at our Banner Elk location, Ski Country Sports at 7:00am and depart promptly at 7:10am. Once in Erwin, Tenn., we’ll stop at Hardees for a quick breakfast and use of their facilities. After about 10-15 minutes we will be back on our way to the river. Arriving in Poplar, NC at the put-in, where we will take time to give a safety talk and also some introductory instructions about the use of funyaks and rafts. Around 9:45am we will be on the water headed for the first rapid called Last Chance and Beat-Me-Daddy where you get your first look into white water rafting on the Nolichucky River. You will travel about half way through the 11 mile gorge past rapids like On The Rocks, Jaws, Quarter Mile and Rock Garden where we will stop for lunch. After everyone has had all they can eat we will finish up the day with a few easier rapids such as Rail Road Wall, Souse Hole, and State Line Shoals, stopping briefly at Big Eddie to surf and swim. After everyone has had some time to play we will end our day just a short distance downstream at the take-out in Erwin around 3:00pm (TIME MAY VARY BASED ON WATER LEVELS AND NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT DAY) once all the guests have had a chance to change clothes, we will board the bus or van and travel about 15 minutes to a store where you can use the facilities and get a snack for the return trip. We will arrive back in Banner Elk usually sometime around 4:30pm. The trip includes your transportation to and from the river, guide for the day, equipment and lunch on the river.

Half Day, Watauga River Family Rafting Trip
The Watauga River is around one hour away from Ski Country Sports in Banner Elk where we will meet for this trip at 11:30am Monday-Saturday. This is the ideal river for families with small children. We put in for this trip at the base of Wilbur Dam, which controls the water flow for our four and a half mile trip. The river offers fast moving water with mild rapids, beautiful pastoral scenery and an abundance of Canadian Geese and ducks. Not long after we start rafting down the Watauga River you will run the mighty Anaconda, the best rapid of the day. The rapid will run from a class II to a class III rapid based on water flow. Kid’s love this intro to white water with water fights from start to finish that brings out the child in all of us. For those who don’t want to partake in the game, we know how to keep a raft just out of reach so you can still watch, but not get wet. About mid way down we will give you a chance to swim around. About fifteen minutes after we get off the water we will arrive at a store so that you can get a snack for the trip back to Banner Elk arriving around 5:15pm. We will provide the transportation to and from the river, guide for the day, equipment and lunch alongside the river or before.
